Customer Reviews: Really Helps Getting that Minivan in the Garage September 26, 2007 M. Carey (Philadelphia, PA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was quite skeptical about this but it works great. You place it ontop of your garage door opener, screw it into your light bulb socket (this may be a bit of a problem if you only have one light bulb socket in your garage door opener because you cannot have this and the light bulb screwed in simultaneously. You have to remove the light bulb. I have two lights so this was not a problem.) and point it down on your dash board. In my case I have it setup so that the back of the minivan just clears the garage door. It allows for very precise parking and it stops my wife from closing the garage door on our minivan.
Love this Parking Guide, highly recommend. May 16, 2010 Willie Gee (SAN ANGELO, TX, US) Pros: Bright laser, easy installation, great price, fast delivery.
Cons: None so far.
I ordered two of the Laser Parking Guides, for two car garage, I was pleased to find that one transformer could power two lasers. My opener only has one light socket, so I used a Y adapter, screwed the light bulb in one side and the plug adapter in the other. The package came with everything else needed to do the installation. Total time to make the installation, including aiming the lasers to both vehicles, about 20 minutes.
I read reviews about other laser parking guides that don't stay on long enough to park the car or not bright enough to see with sun coming through the garage door or not able to move the laser to the proper angle. None of these problems with this setup, lasers stay on as long as the opener light stays on, mine is about 4 minutes, and the lasers can be rotated 360 deg.
I mounted mine on the side of the opener as suggested in the directions, works great.
My wife and love this device, no more guessing on when to stop the car or suv, we even use it to center the vehicles by spotting where the laser hits the front of the hood. One interesting thing, the lasers are both plugging into the same transformer but one is brighter than the other. It was no problem for me, I used the brighter one to point to the farthest car, but both are bright enough to see easily.
I highly recommend this parking guide.
Solid 5 Stars May 20, 2010 Mr. Fixit (Florida) Seriously... easy install, accurate, price is right, works great. Save yourself some time researching and just get this one, I really believe you won't be disappointed. Most cars once you put them in park and let off the brake, tend to roll back a couple inches or so, if you want to really split hairs about EXACTLY where you want to spot the car, you can have have it your way once you get the feel and account for your particular car's "rollback" as I call it. It's a really neat, unobtrusive little gadget. No silly looking tennis or golf balls hanging, tape on the floor, stop signs or any other nonsense.
Good Product July 13, 2010 zoblamouche I have no complaints about the product. Each laser is fully adjustable 360 degrees and can be individually mounted. I purchased from Home Depot a light socket extension with an electrical outlet to plug in the transformer into the garage opener's light socket. The transformer powers two lasers. One is slightly less bright than the other, but not enough to be a problem. I have the system installed for a couple of weeks now and have had no problems so far. The only negative is the way the product is described by Amazon. The picture shown is not that of the actual product and is very hard to see because of its size. Based on the description, I purchased two sets thinking that each contained one laser. Turns out the package includes two lasers. Luckily it was inexpensive enough, so I gave out the second package as a gift to a friend.
Not good if you back into your garage August 8, 2010 Jerry S Worthless if you back into your garage and the garage door is open, Laser beam is so weak you can't see it.
